I heard that the rare bee orchid and lizard orchid has been seen locally so I went out searching. Couldn’t find the wretched things but did see loads of other stuff including clouds of butterflies. Thank goodness we still have a few places left where you can still see them like that.
Of course I must have looked a proper Charlie stalking through the grass getting ready to take a picture only for the breeze to blow up and ruin the chance of a clear shot or for my shadow to fall on the canny insects whence they flew off.
Bring on the football season and I can stop all this nonsense.
