Butterfly huntin’

Posted by 1troy3 on July 5, 2008

I heard that the rare bee orchid and lizard orchid has been seen locally so I went out searching. Couldn’t find the wretched things but did see loads of other stuff including clouds of butterflies. Thank goodness we still have a few places left where you can still see them like that.

Of course I must have looked a proper Charlie stalking through the grass getting ready to take a picture only for the breeze to blow up and ruin the chance of a clear shot or for my shadow to fall on the canny insects whence they flew off.

Bring on the football season and I can stop all this nonsense.

The football season begins tonight! United away at Ledbury Town – I had a chance to go, but I have to give birth to some chickens. (Don’t ask.)

Can Ledbury really be counted as away Al?

Good luck with the chickens. I’m envious or the rural idyll – I get ever more frustrated that I’m not where I want to be.

Be back soon though – and looking forward to the new season. Hope Turner is going to pick up some decent signings fairly pronto.

Can Ledbury be counted as opposition?? Talk about pre- season friendly! Will be looking for at least 8 goals on the ticker tape score thingy when I get back. Hope the chickens don’t cause to many problems.

Well, we managed to knock Ledbury for 10 – a confidence boost if nothing else.

I need some advice re the chicks – 5 emerged successfully, but one is five toed! Should it be allowed to live or will evolution be damaged beyond repair? (They are all very cute.)

Heyyyyyyy – last chick I was with had five toes! What’s so weird about that?
    Disco Stu.

So the next question is: Who is Disco Stu?

Anyone like to hazard a guess?

All is quiet on the blog at the moment – did an unexpected heat wave hit.? Hope all is well with everyone.

Definitely no heatwave, Ian – although the forecast for the coming week is quite good.
I was having a tidy-up in the attic last week and found a glossy photo of us 2 stood on the Meadow end (with Neil Priddy & Christopher Andrews) watching Dixie score a goal v Crystal Palace in ‘76. If I figure out how to send a copy of it I will.

Disco Stu is a man whose mind is mentally stuck in the disco era. Out of 25, he was named the 24th Top Peripheral Character in The Simpsons.
In a garage sale, Homer attempts to sell a jacket on which he had once tried to write “Disco Stud” in beadwork, but having made the letters too big he had left out the final ‘”d”. Another customer recommends it to Stu, but Stu replies “Disco Stu doesn’t advertise”
Stu actually is aware disco is dead, does not like disco music at all, and worries that his personality may make him a “one-note guy”.
He is a Roman Catholic, having gotten an annulment from John Paul II after a brief marriage to Selma Bouvier. In his younger years, he had a budding career as a sea captain, going by the name of “Nautical Stu”.

now that’s quite enough, if there’s one thing worse than wiki, it’s someone ripping off wiki!!
start another thread, or a heatwave, or something….

    BTW
i am not the elusive Disco Stu!

Hi NZ – I was thinking the same – maybe there’s a summer shutdown.
Saw United struggle yesterday – we need a striker fast Been watching our Olympians striking gold this weekend – gawd knows what the keirin is, but we won it!

Yup, sorry y’all. Had a bit on my plate but normal service will be resumed shortly – just as soon as I work out what constitutes the madison. I believe we are supposed to win that as well.
