If we own the banks why aren’t we able to change the contracts of the people who are still skimming off fat bonuses from our bail out?
Not that I’m bitter or anything.
Anyway, thanks for the ‘Forest rangers’ suggestion. I found the opening titles on YouTube and the music did indeed awake an ancient memory. But I’m not absolutely sure that was the series even though it’s the most likely explanation. I suppose the only way to find out is watch the DVDs – all 100+ of them. Apparently, the cast still have reunions nearly 50 years on.
Off to Lublijana this afternoon. Have a good weekend all – and cheer for United for me.

I was reading Tony Hart’s obit the other day and came across the aforementioned ventroliquist act. It set off one of those primordial memories – I guess I must have been about three when that was on the TV and I know I couldn’t even pronounce it.
Isn’t it weird the way these things lie dormant for decades and then suddenly spring to life wheny they are given the right trigger.
My parents moved house when I was three so I can gauge the vintage of some of those early kids’ programmes. The only one I can positively say I remember by title was Top Cat (in shaky black-and-white) but there was another Amercian thang I used to watch (with my eggy soldiers) which was all about smoke jumpers – you know, those guys that parachute into forest fire zones to tackle the blazes. Blowed if I know what it was called. Can anyone help me out? Might even be on YouTube if someone can come with a name. Al – you’re good at this stuff.

An organic compost supplier – Mr Muck’s. Ah the things you learn on the M40.
Already looking forward to the Slovenia trip (if my ears can tek it cap’n).
OK time for a competition. First person to mail me with a picture of a spring bulb in flower wins blog bragging rights. Has to be UK, this year, growing naturally outside and any other conditions of common sense.
Good luck.

Winters like they used to be. Even had a frozen pipe – now there’s a novelty.
Really enjoyed the Shire in all its moods. Boxing Day was a colourful hoot in Ledbury with the folk dancers but only a few days later we returned to a black-and-white world on a river walk. Snaps in the usual place.
There never seems to be enough time to fit everything so I’m already looking forward to more country tramping. I believe Morten is back in the UK now so better clean my boots.
Have a great 2009 y’all.
Just going outside… I maybe some time.
PS. Reading a collection of Bushisms I was reacquainted with my favourite:
“I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.”
